PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is a global professional services network headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is the second-largest professional services firm in the world, trailing only Deloitte, and is one of the Big Four accounting firms, alongside Deloitte, EY, and KPMG.
PwC operates in 158 countries across 721 locations, employing over 250,000 people. As of 2015, 22% of its workforce was based in Asia, 26% in North America and the Caribbean, and 32% in Western Europe. In the fiscal year 2017, PwC reported global revenues of $37.7 billion, with $16 billion generated from its Assurance services, $9.46 billion from its Tax services, and $12.25 billion from its Advisory services. The company serves 420 out of the 500 Fortune 500 companies.
The firm was created in 1998 through the merger of Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse, both of which had histories dating back to the 19th century. PwC adopted its current name in September 2010 as part of a rebranding initiative.
As of 2017, PwC is the 5th-largest privately owned company in the United States.
