The ING Group, headquartered in Amsterdam, is a Dutch multinational corporation offering a range of banking and financial services. Its key operations span retail banking, direct banking, commercial banking, investment banking, wholesale banking, private banking, asset management, and insurance services. With total assets exceeding $1.1 trillion, ING ranks among the world’s largest banks and is consistently listed among the top 30 globally. It is also one of the top ten largest European companies by revenue.
As the Dutch representative in the Inter-Alpha Group of Banks, a consortium of 11 leading European banks, ING has been recognized as a global systemically important bank since 2012. By 2018, the institution served 38.4 million clients across more than 40 countries. It is also a key component of the Euro Stoxx 50 stock market index.
The name ING stands for “Internationale Nederlanden Groep” (International Netherlands Group). The orange lion in its logo symbolizes its Dutch heritage. As of December 2019, ING reported long-term debt totaling €150 billion.
