Trump-Linked World Liberty Acquires 3.54M MNT Following Mantle Network Upgrade
World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi venture backed by former U.S. President Donald Trump’s family, has significantly increased its stake in Mantle’s MNT token following the network’s latest technological enhancement.
According to on-chain data from Lookonchain and Arkham Intelligence, WLFI purchased approximately 3.54 million MNT for nearly $3 million USDC, with an average acquisition price of $0.84 per token.
This latest buy has pushed WLFI’s total crypto holdings—including assets such as ETH, WBTC, TRX, LINK, AAVE, and ENA—past $340 million. However, the firm remains at a paper loss of approximately $111 million as of the latest figures.
MNT serves as both the utility and governance token for Mantle Network, a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. The network recently implemented a hard fork on March 19, integrating EigenDA, a decentralized data availability service designed to enhance scalability.
The upgrade is expected to boost Mantle’s throughput to 15 MB/s, enabling higher transaction capacity without breaching data rate limits. Additionally, it aligns the network more closely with Ethereum’s upcoming Pectra upgrade.
Following the developments, MNT has seen a price increase of 6% on the day, trading at $0.83 at press time, according to CoinDesk and TradingView.
