Metaplanet Acquires 150 More Bitcoin Shortly After Eric Trump’s Adviser Joins

Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings, Reports 68% BTC Yield in 2025

Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet has strengthened its Bitcoin position, announcing on Monday the acquisition of an additional 150 BTC. This brings its total holdings to 3,350 BTC, valued at approximately $291 million at current market prices.

The latest purchase comes shortly after the company appointed Eric Trump, son of U.S. President Donald Trump, to its newly established strategic advisory board. His involvement is expected to elevate Metaplanet’s profile and contribute to its long-term growth strategy.

Metaplanet continues to focus on enhancing shareholder value through Bitcoin accumulation, using BTC Yield as a key performance metric. BTC Yield measures the percentage growth in Bitcoin holdings relative to the company’s total shares over a set period.

Between July and September 2024, the firm’s BTC Yield stood at 41.7%, reflecting steady accumulation. This figure surged to 309.8% in Q4 2024, driven by aggressive Bitcoin acquisitions and price appreciation. So far in 2025, from January 1 to March 24, Metaplanet has recorded a BTC Yield of 68.3%, according to company filings.

Dylan LeClair, Metaplanet’s Head of Bitcoin Strategy, highlighted in an X post that the company’s stock ended Monday as the 13th most liquid in Japan, with a trading volume of $336.6 million—outpacing major corporations like Toyota and Nintendo. Metaplanet’s shares closed the day up 7%, finishing above 5,000 yen.
