Donald Trump Jr. Calls Crypto the Key to U.S. Economic Power at Ondo Summit
Donald Trump Jr. made an unexpected appearance at the Ondo Summit in New York City on Thursday, emphasizing cryptocurrency’s role in maintaining America’s economic dominance.
“I believe crypto could be the future of American hegemony—our economic power and influence depend on it,” Trump Jr. said during the event.
His remarks came shortly after World Liberty Financial (WLF), a Trump family-backed crypto venture, invested in Ondo Finance’s native token (ONDO).
“We need to establish a framework where crypto can thrive—where it’s not over-regulated by people who don’t understand it,” Trump Jr. added. “Crypto is the future of finance, and we must ensure the U.S. remains at the forefront.”
Chase Herro, co-founder of World Liberty Financial, also spoke at the event, revealing plans for a “strategic reserve” of crypto assets. “We’re committed to building in this space,” he said.
WLF has made several high-profile investments in digital assets, including ETH, wrapped BTC, TRX, AAVE, and LINK. Earlier in the day, the firm acquired approximately $470,000 worth of ONDO tokens, coinciding with Ondo Finance’s announcement of Ondo Chain, a new layer-1 blockchain for tokenized assets.
Meanwhile, during U.S. morning hours, Trump’s social media company disclosed plans to launch a series of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), including the Truth.Fi Bitcoin Plus ETF, which would track the price of bitcoin (BTC).
