Standard Chartered Predicts Bitcoin Will Reach $500K by 2028, Driven by ETFs and Reduced Volatility.

Standard Chartered expects Bitcoin’s price to soar to $500,000 by 2028, fueled by growing institutional investment in spot bitcoin ETFs and reduced volatility, which will enhance its role as a hedge against traditional financial issues.

In a note, Geoffrey Kendrick, the bank’s global head of digital assets research, predicted that Bitcoin’s volatility will decrease as the U.S. exchange-traded fund (ETF) market matures. The increased access to BTC, under the Trump administration, and continued institutional inflows into spot bitcoin ETFs will help drive demand for the cryptocurrency. These factors, Kendrick believes, will boost Bitcoin’s share in a portfolio optimized with gold, leading to long-term price gains.

Kendrick also stated that this trend could drive Bitcoin to $500,000 before Trump’s presidency ends, with the bank’s year-end price target set at $200,000 and a 2026 forecast of $300,000.

Currently trading at around $98,000, Bitcoin’s price is affected by fluctuations in the Bitcoin-gold ratio, which has recently hit its lowest point since mid-November as gold surged due to concerns surrounding a potential U.S.-China trade war and rising Chinese demand.
