LINK Soars to Nearly $30 as Trump-Backed World Liberty Financial Expands Chainlink Holdings
Chainlink’s LINK token surged to almost $30 during Friday’s Asian trading hours, with futures open interest (OI) hitting record highs of over $860 million, according to market data.
Donald Trump-backed World Liberty Financial made headlines by increasing its LINK holdings. Late Thursday, the platform purchased an additional $1 million worth of LINK, following a similar buy earlier this week. This brings the total value of its LINK holdings to $2 million. The platform also acquired $246,000 worth of Aave (AAVE) tokens, boosting its total AAVE portfolio to $1.2 million.
With this latest move, LINK has become World Liberty Financial’s fourth-largest holding, following its stakes in ether (ETH), bitcoin (BTC), and tether (USDT).
World Liberty Financial, backed by the Trump family, offers a unified platform for borrowing and lending cryptocurrencies, creating liquidity pools, and stablecoin transactions. Its governance token, WLFI, powers the platform’s operations.
The platform leverages Chainlink’s oracle services to enhance integration with the broader crypto ecosystem. Chainlink provides critical pricing data and cross-chain interoperability, enabling the seamless operation of smart contracts. According to a November report, this infrastructure supports World Liberty Financial’s efforts to connect with external APIs and off-chain systems, a core feature of Chainlink’s offerings.
LINK tokens are integral to Chainlink’s ecosystem, compensating node operators for retrieving and processing off-chain data. As Chainlink’s services gain adoption, demand for LINK tokens has surged, driving their utility and value.
Investors are reacting positively to World Liberty Financial’s purchases. LINK’s price has risen 22% in the past week and over 130% since World Liberty Financial first began acquiring Chainlink tokens. This bullish sentiment has pushed LINK back to price levels last seen in early 2021.
The spike in futures OI adds to the optimistic outlook for LINK. Open interest, which reflects the number of unsettled contracts in futures markets, is a key indicator of investor confidence. Rising OI alongside increasing prices suggests a strong bullish trend, with investors committing new capital in anticipation of further gains.
